Modern Radar was founded in 2006 and is a one woman business based Durham, NC. Growing up I learned to love fabric and sewing by watching my mom make everything from clothing to curtains. Screenprinting was something I picked up in college, and originally thought I would print posters rather than fabric or cards. Moving to North Carolina helped me to discover my real interest was in surface design and textiles. So by combining those skills with about 12 years of retail experience, I found a way to put everything I'd learned to good use...working from my garage studio where I print my products the "old-fashioned" way, using handmade equipment and a perfectionist's eye.
I enjoy creating patterns that are clean, simple, and bold. All my designs start from original pen and pencil drawings, perfected on paper then scanned into the computer and prepped to print (the one exception would be the "owls" design which is a favorite vintage design).
When printing on both paper and fabric I use low-toxicity acrylic inks. I also work very hard to create as little waste as possible during production, recycling or donating any leftover materials I cannot use. I almost always use reclaimed, recycled, or vintage supplies to package and ship my products, and try very hard to source my other supplies from companies that promote fair labor and environmentally friendly practices.

Do you sell wholesale?
Yes, I do offer my items wholesale to small boutiques. Check out my current retailers on my "shop" page. If you are interested in selling my designs in your shop please email me at sales@modernradar.com for more info.
Do you sell on consignment?
Unfortunately, because of time constraints and the extra effort needed to track these accounts, I am no longer able to offer items on consignment.
Do you offer any custom services?
CUSTOM POUCHES
If you like one of my pouches, but maybe need different colors or a slightly larger size, that is something I am often able to do. Large quantities of one item are also available upon request.
PARTY INVITATIONS
If you are having a party, I can turn any of my cards into invitations by adding custom inserts with your event information (a free service with the purchase of 20+ cards). My cupcakes cards are a popular item for kids' birthdays!
WEDDING INVITATIONS
I offer custom wedding invitation services and have a portfolio available on request. Because of the close communication, as well as color and design accuracy, involved in creating wedding invitations, I only offer this service to couples in the NC Triangle area so we are able to meet in person.
